America mourns along with Australia. I know my husband was in complete shock this morning when we read about the croc hunter. Dealing with these dangerous animals to be killed by something thats not really dangerous. I feel very sad for his family and for the children worldwide that knew and loved Steve. This man had a huge zest for life and a love of the unloved creatures of the world. Rest in peace Mr Croc Hunter..
crikey..i can hear him saying it still. I think some of his sayings will live forever in the hearts of children everywhere..even some of us adults. [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img]

I was watching the service at the Zoo today and something struck me pretty hard. Children crying..adults crying..this man made an impact on not just kids but adults as well. Call him silly or an embarrassment to his county..No I dont think so. He was something great. The looks on the kids faces told a story about something they were lucky to exp..something some of us are too old to understand I suppose. They wont forget though..Bless the little children that are hurting from this loss.
Hey True Blue, don't say you've gone
Say you've knocked off for a smoko
And you'll be back later on
Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue
Give it to me straight
Face to face
Are you really disappearing,
Just another dying race,
Hey True Blue.
True Blue, is it me and you?
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?
Is it standing by your mate
When he's in a fight?
Or will she be right?
True Blue, I'm asking you...
Hey True Blue, can you bear the load?
Will you tie it up with wire,
Just to keep the show on the road?
Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue, now be Fair Dinkum
Is your heart still there?
If they sell us out like sponge cake
Do you really care?
Hey True Blue.
True Blue, is it me and you?
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?
Is it standing by your mate
When she's in a fight?
Or will she be right?
True Blue, I'm asking you...
True Blue, is it me and you?
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?
Is it standing by your mate
When he's in a fight?
Or will she be right?
True Blue ... True Blue.
True Blue means-
Steadfast loyal Australian who displays the Aussie ideals of a fair go for all, mateship, having a go, and solving problems.
Rest in peace Steve..may the world never forget the ideals you wanted to teach. Even the ugliest and scariest of Gods creatures deserve love.

Several Years ago when working at the Zoo..It was Australia Day, and John Williamson was the special guest in the main stadium.
Steve Irwin and His family were at one end and I remember thinking it was a bit like they were sitting in a "Royal Box".I was also conscious of the astonishing quality of the building and its fittings..every piece of concrete well finished and so on... I had seen Steve in here building with All the employies He was hands on
Anyhow,Steve used a microphone to welcome John to the huge crowd,Explaining that the popular entertainer was the favourite of his late mother Lyn and he was pleased John was able to visit the zoo at long last.
Steve said "Sadly My Mum is not here today But I know she is looking down upon us all".As Steve said these words in his normal plain-speaking ,direct way,I was caught off guard by the tribute to His mother and I found I had tears running down My face.
Embarrassed,I carefully glanced around and many other people were crying Frankly,I dont know how John Williamson was able to cope with an introduction like that but he certainly put on a magnificent concert and I am sure that,on that sun drenched Queensland afternoon,Steves mother was part of the audience. Now,maybe,it is Steves turn to watch over the zoo after this dreadful, wasteful turn of events.

Last night Barbara Walters had a special on about the Croc Hunter and interviewed his wife. I didn't get to see it so I hope somewhere it is aired again.
The world lost a wildlife warrior but I think in his passing more will be born.
I am saddened by this loss and yet I feel strongly that he lived a good, rich life and he was blessed. No one is given 88 years or 56 years. Anyone of us could go tomorrow in a variety of ways.
I don't look at it as dreadful, mabbe because people dye every day. Drug overdoses, murder, cancer, illness and the list goes on.
I refuse to look at Steve Irwin's death as wasteful. How can we say that his role as an environmentalist was anything but amazing. He lives on in his family, his memories and his fans.
and there ya go...my first venture into Irwin land.... not being critical.... just happy this man had 40 some years living a life he loved so dearly....
Everyone should live such a true, honest, rich in meaning life.
"crikey shes a beautiful creature"

Aaron I cant speak to You But I thought You may like to read that poem that was read out at the service for Steve..We Grew up with Steve in Our town and You taught your children how to play being Steve the crock Hunter..... sometimes I just wish you were here..Life is short for all people no matter what age you die. I know You will apriciate the poem Az and any others Who may have not read it.
THE CROCODILES ARE CRYING--RUPERT McCALL
[i]Endless visions fill My head-this man-as large as life
And instantly my heart mourns for his angels and his wife....
Because the way I see Steve Irwin-just put everything aside
It comes back to his family-it comes back to his pride
His animals inclusive-Crikey-light the place with with love!
Shine his star with everything he fought to rise above
The crazy-man in khaki from the day he left the pouch
Living out his dream and in that classic 'Stevo' crouch
Exploding forth with character and redefining cheek
Its one thing to have microphones and spotlight cameras shoved
its another to be taken in and genuinely loved
But that was where he had it right-I guess he always knew
From his fathers modest reptile park and then the Australia Zoo
We cringed at times and shook our heads-but true to natures call
There is something very Irwin in the make up of us all
Yes the more I care to think of it-the more he had it right
If your going to make a difference-make it big and make it bright!
Yes he was a lunatic! Yes he went head first!
But maybe the world feel happy with his energetic burst
A world so large and loyal that its hard to comprehend
I doubt we truly count the warmth until life meets an end
To count it now I say a prayer with words of inspiration
May the spotlight shine forever on his dream for conservation
My daughter broke the news to me-My six year-old in tears
It was like she'd just turned old enough to show her honest fears
I tried to make some sense of it but whilst her dad was trying
His little girl explained it best
she said,"The crocodiles are crying"
there best mates up in heaven now--the crocks up there are smileing
And as sure as flowers, poems and cards and memories are piling
As sure as we'll continue with the trademarks of his spiel
of all the tributes worthy--he was rough
but he was real
As sure as "Crikey"fills the sky
I think we'll miss ya Steve
Goodbye[i]
